Bio

Who is Aimee Jolson?

She is that woman in the mirror with the silly, sultry smile. She loves night skies, red wine, and dry dirty martinis. She keeps secrets. She’s been acting professionally since the age of 6 and has traveled the globe - alone. She loves hotel rooms. She’s a second generation Lithuanian Jew, is based in New York City and has an MFA in acting from Rutgers University. "Yes," she is a great niece of Al Jolson and does a fine rendition of "Sonny Boy." Available for both union and non-union projects, she’s represented by Access Talent in NYC and can also be contacted through this website. Savvy in business, she has a home recording studio with full editing capabilities, a phone patch, and access to ISDN professional engineering facilities.

As an actress, her passion lies in independent film and the theatre. Check out her resume for more about that. She's also an acting and voice coach. As a human, her passion lies in people. She’s taught kids at a Brooklyn high school and volunteered in elderly home health care. As a woman, her passion lies in dark chocolate, activities that break a sweat, and developing a project about her favorite Russian Jewess, Emma Goldman. She has recently taken up pole dancing and surfing.

Empathetic and sometimes wise, she usually learns from her mistakes the first time around. Such as: Don’t wear a thong to spinning class (seriously, don’t!). She’s a quick study and easy to direct. While down to earth and Californian at heart, she wears a suit well and likes creamy matte lipsticks the most.

In narration and broadcast, Aimee has worked in radio, both live and taped sessions, and records books with the New York Public Library. She’s been heard on NPR radio plays, various phone prompts, and looping for stage and film. Her client list includes Time Warner, Kodak Film, Disney’s Epcot Center, and the Moscow Olympic Shop. She recently joined the talent roster of the largest on-line recorded book company, Audible.com.

Her zodiac is Aquarius. She is a published travel and research writer, a designer of t-shirts and novelty toilet paper (a venture that brought her national media attention), and was once ranked 10th in the USA as a competitive rollerskater. Aimee loves lotus flowers, biographies and the martial arts. She wishes for equitable distribution of global resources, a cure for cancer and has survived being run over by an 11 ton truck.

The woman smiling in the mirror is close to her family and keeps friends for decades. Her parents are MDs in Central Florida and her brother is a surfer and hemp activist in Northern California.
